How long have you owned your boat?

Current boat 15 years and we intend to keep her until we get too frail to handle her. Hope that is still a long way off.
Previous boat 12 years.

Currently own two boats (used for different purposes in different parts of the world)
One for 25 years, the other for 13 years. No expectation of selling either for a long time

It is nice to see so many people happy with their older boats and have no intention of selling them

First boat, owned by parents and a friend, sailed on when new in about 1977 until last year. I over the years bought out the friend and then my parents, so wholly owned by me for a good 25 years. Now purchased another boat that I'm throwing money at to get how I want, and should be a keeper until I finish boating.
Had my own Cadet on my 11th birthday, though I had to pay my parents back for most of it over a few years. Taught me about money and saving though !

Chatting to a friend at the weekend. We (Mrs Shuggy and I) are now in our 17th year with the same boat. I don’t think we’ll ever sell her (boat, not Mrs Shuggy*) until we give up sailing or hand the boat onto our children. My friend suggested that not many people keep their boats for 17+ years. Ours is a 70s plastic ‘classic’. Anyone else in the same position? Marisca/awol beats us by some margin I suspect. Anyone else out there who can better 17 years with no intention to move on?

We’re now at the point where we’ve replaced various bits of kit for the 3rd/4th time and it’s probably time for a major refit but I am some way off retiring and using my own labour!

*Sensible offers accepted.

Ah Shuggy, you need to get to bed earlier if these are the kind of thoughts that you get after midnight. I have been very lucky with the ladies in my life. Somehow, the lass I met 56 years ago can still thole me and Marisca has looked after me for 21 years.
I am now at the stage with my boat that if it has lasted this long it will probably do a bit longer. The idea of new (it used to be Harken but I'm now boycotting Donald John's products) blocks, tracks, furler, etc. is tempting but it ain't going to happen unless there's obvious problems.

My boat will be 50 years old this year. I am the second owner and have owned it for 14 years now. That is longer than either of my marriages!
