our boat is 30 this year and we have owned her for 17 years, since we realised that we needed more space with daughter mark 2 who is now 18 and can buy me a pint at the folly this year!
Human Age
========
Apparently all body parts renew in less than about a year. Apart from teeth I think. Much younger overall than boat then ! Large beam though with large overhang.
Extra years due to
worry of boat ownership
==================
About two for every one.
Extra years when buying bigger boat
===========================
2 squared !
To get some balance into this thread, has anybody asked the boats how long they have owned you... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I think I have had mine almost exactly 3 years, but I've had my sailboard since 1987..so thats nearly 22 years then. I still can't sail the damned thing /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I suppose technically I have owned the boat for around 15 years, but I have sailed her all my life. She was built for my Grandpa in 1935, passed to my dad around early 1960's, and I took responsibility for her around the early 1990's. Whoever does the most maintainance gets to claim ownership! It would surprise me if no one on here can top trump 74 years in family ownership.
