thank you. Shows a slight lack of imagination though. I am sure grandpa would be perplexed as to why we were still sailing his boat. Modern when he got her!
Crikey - I'm such a boat tart ....I tend to change boats about every 2 years (I've lost count of them now, but it's at least a dozen boats, so far, excluding dinghies).
Longest was a beautiful wooden, Tidewater class gaff cutter - seven years custody.
Boat 46 years old. Owned 29 years. Fell asleep in the cabin todayfor half an hour after putting sails on. Deck beams looked exactly the same when I woke up as they did 29 years ago!
I know your Father must have educated You about strings and stuff!
I know mine did.
Flip, I cringe sometimes when I ask a newbie or crew to 'pass me that string on the left'!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Two boats: owned one for 11 years out of 52 (9th owner), the other for 27 years out of 51 (2nd owner).
Longest individual ownership I've come across was a little wooden cutter I surveyed, still in original ownership after 54 years. Needless to say, she was absolutely sparkling.
My first boat and I've had her for 24 years. She is 46 years old. I decided to keep her until I needed a bigger boat, but that day hasn't come. She's as not as old as some, like me, but not bad for a grp boat.

Answering another post, I just realized I have owned my 30 year old boat for 15 years, this season.
Can anyone beat this?....I bet you can

A similar symmetry for us. We've owned our 20 year old boat for 10 years. Before us she had done the rounds with 4 previous owners but she seems to have settled with us. Previous boat was a Wayfarer dinghy which we had for 18 years!
