How is the size of an R clip specified?

I need to get a few more of these, but this one had to go back, so I can't just take it with me to the chandlers.

So what size do I ask for ?

Wire diameter ( I think) and length

Edit ;also diameter of the pin/ shaft / tube it's fitting through.

They've got quite a wide range. I suggest size depends on size of shaft/tube you want it to fit

Draw round the old ..... now you have a template to use.

That's what I did for the clips on my Lawn Tractors.

That's a 1" R clip. Ask for that, and they'll understand.

Put the pin pointy end down on the paper
Hit the top of the pin with a hammer.
Now you have an accurate template

Thanks for the reminder, just bought two from ebay.
Specified by wire diameter and overall length.

Many R pins of that length will be much thinner wire.
