Although the difference between 5.5 and 6.0, or whatever, may not matter much arithmetically in many instances, it can make a considerable psychological difference and mar one’s enjoyment of a day out or cruise if one knows that one is being held up, especially if the engine appears to be struggling, smoky or noisy. If your only use of the engine is to get you out of harbour to go sailing, then it may not matter much, but any attempt at making a passage will probably lead to frustration.
