We all want to save money on things but how much do we really save,

I'v heard of people going from Hamble to Cowes to fill up there tanks and save 1 penny per litre. well think I toped that today! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Had one of those 5p per litre fuel coupons being done by one of the big supermarkets at the mo, the ones that last a week only, well it run out tomorrow, so off I went to fuel my car, first supermarket filling station, about 5 miles away, had a sign up when I got there saying NO Diesel, *******
Was it worth going to the next one, about 10 miles away, well I was half way between empty and quarter tank, so off I set,
stop start traffic lights all the way, got to within 1 mile of the supermarket and guess what
an accident, bad one, road closed, fire engine's , Police the lot. So I thinks I know a way round this, HE HE
off down the motor way, next exit off and come from other side, I thought, Got there eventually after about a 6 mile battle though town centre,
found the supermarket, filled up,

And saved

£2.50

There was some reseach done a few months ago, I remember, which concluded that leisure time was worth £6.50 an hour (or something like that!) regardless of income, so you are out of pocket by about a fiver I recon....but you have entertained some folk today.

Yep, you need to get the calculations right first. Hamble 30p Litre/ Itchen Marine 28p Litre Around 5 miles between, will you go slow and get a 'free ride' or fast and waste the money, but spend more time on the water anyway?. Are you filling with 400 Litres or 50? All depends doesn't it?

How much is Weymouth fuel bunker these days?

Works much better with petrol -

Hamble to nearest Tescos towing RIB with Range Rover is a round trip of about 7 miles - RR running cold does about 10 to the gallon, therefore using about 3 litres at 78p is about £2.50.

With petrol at Port Hamble now 99p I only need to buy 12 litres to justify the trip. I never seem to be able to get away with putting less than 70 litres in, saving nearly £15.

So - the moral of the story is - the bigger the engine the better.

I think it must be the same super market, that used to do 15p of a litre just over a year ago,
After doing our shopping to get the voucher, we used to tow our first boat too the garage to fill her up, and also fill up our Subaru Turbo and 3 jerry cans while we were at it, We usually saved around £30/forums/images/icons/smile.gif.
