How far is it from Home to your Boat

When I first bought her it was in the local harbour and I could see her (500Mts) Unfortunately the local "this is my harbour " old coots were always finding some reason to complain every time I went there. Its now on a swinging mooring (yard for winter) 30 minutes away. Very good bunch of blokes ,very helpful and not a bit old cootish.

For a long time were about 20 mins door to bathing platform but we didnt make it back from our summer cruise last year as a decision to take a temporary mooring in a great spot has turned into a permanent berth. Now an hour and 15 minutes but a pleasant drive with a superb bakery/cafe bang on the half way point.

150miles takes 4 hrs one way, this includes car ferry , took a temp berth twelve seasons ago, have not returned to previous mooring, every time I mention it to swmbo returning , get the reply she would rather sell the boat,

I leave home and walk 50 metres to the dingy rack, row 80 metres to my 16ft sports boat then blast up the harbour (at 10 knts ?) to my sailing boat a mile away.

Interesting reply's. I wonder if a persons boat can actually be too close to their home in that with no travel distance there is not so much of a sense of 'going away'. I know the people we bought our sealine from were only a 10 min walk to the Marina and they said that that was a factor for them. If they went to sit on their Boat for a coffee they said they might as well sit in their Conservatory

100 metres.
The view is a lot better from the boat.

About 80mins South London to South Coast.
My previous boat used to be on my driveway but this one doesn't fit!
A bit of a pain if just doing a bit of maintenance as it's three hours out of the day before I lift a spanner or brush. Not far enough to have to stop over but far enough to eat a chunk out of the weekend.
