How dry is your boat?

I have a monitor in my boat that has read 73 % RH for the last 2-3 weeks. The bilges are absolutely dry as it is a saildrive. Is this a normal level of RH. I think in the summer a typical figure was 60%. Is this just a reflection of the change in ambient temperature and signals the need to turn on the de-humidifier?

I don't have a monitor and do not know what the humidity is. Since increasing the ventalation the boat is a lot 'dryer' and this is without heaters ! I am going to have a go at washing/wipping the inside down to remove salt crystals which will hopefully make her feel even dryer.

We get something very similar before adding dehumidifier or lighting the stove

For what it is worth my boat has been laid up out of the water since 15th October. She has had a small thermostat controlled heater and a dehumidifier running since 20th October, humidity reading a few days ago was around 58 degrees RH.

I have now got my de-humidifier working and it has dropped the humidity to 60% quite quickly but now seems stuck at that. I believe the target to prevent mould and mildew is 58% RH
