Question says it all really, ive got 2 18ft speedboats of no value, engine problems on both, 20 years old, can you scrap boats like cars. Do they have any recyclable value?
bit dark to take piccies!!
will try tomorrow, one is an 18ft searay, about 1988, engine in pieces in friends garage. Been in dry storage for 5 years but needs work. (obviously). The other is a 18ft sunbird, 4 cylinder engine, which is in the boat but i dont know if it runs. Outdrive missing. i will get more info and photos up tomorro

Your post reminded me of a funny story....
Was diving from Castletown on Porltand last year. There was a couple of guys who I'd seen before dressed in their usual camo wetsuits(?). Apparently they are aspiring free divers(breath holding to silly depths!)
Anyway they had launched their little 4mtr RIB and then dragged an old 5 mtrs cabin cruiser day boat thing down the slip. They then preceeded to bash some more holes in the hull and began to drag it out to the first of the Mulbberys.....
Later heard a call into the coastgaurd reporting the possible theft and sinking in the harbour of a similar boat....
To cut a long story short involving police, coastgaurds, habour masters etc. they eventually dragged it back to the slip and spent a good 2 hours trying to haul the capsized semi-submersed hull back out of the water.
They were going to sink it to give them something to practice on!!! Like there's not enough wrecks in Portland Harbour.
It gave everyone there on the day a good laugh anyway!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Moral of the story: don't sink you speedboat in Portland Harbour!
Sorry, ive been away, yes they probably would be free to collector, the sunbird is on a good trailer, but the searay's trailer is far from roadworthy. ring for a chat if you wish on 07976 165095. The boats are 5 miles from Ringwood, Hampshire.
