If it were a Sunsail boat and I wanted my deposit back I'd have tried a bit harder than that. Whistles and shuffles off...

Large kitchen matches. Great for sticking in holes where self tappers into grp have become loose. Repairs last for years, until you realise something more permanent is required! <g> Much better than hlb's rawlplugs which only last a trip or two!

Gaffer tape. The worlds cure-all. After a bit of bright sunshine it makes removing masking tape adhesive look easy.

When I was on the sea trial to buy my boat a linkage in the gear shift broke. It was temporarily fixed by the local "engineer" with a cable tie. 6 years later it is still in place!

I'm with you on this one Roy. Gaffer tape is all you need for a lasting repair on anything. We have a saying on our boat "If you can't fix it with gaffer it can't be fixed".
Ian

ps
That is not to say that our boat is held together with gaffer !
I am being hyperthetical you understand.
