My Mrs is always looking at other boats and we saw a nice fairline Corsica 37 at the weekend.

The size and flybridge looked good but then i looked at the back. Now with the Targa we have i can get us alongside and she can just step off the platform with no issues.

But the corsica was built up alongside the platform meaning that stepping off to the side was not possible. The only way was to stand on the side a step down as on a yacht.

She has short legs and this would be too much of a step for her. Why has it been designed this way as it seems stupid to me?

Things look better on newer boats these days but i just wonder at the stupidity of design somedays.

So this means that the corsica is now not on our next boat list....but a Phantom 38 is!

Get a ladder and clip it on when in port and remove when moving.
We have a Broom and the pontoon is about 3 feet or more down.
The trade of is interior space, one soon gets used to the ladder. Ours was made by Lalizas and cost about £70, easy to fit.

on the plus side the owner will be saving several hundreds of pounds per year in berthing fees through not having a sticky out bathing platform:)
