How do I replace this on my windscreen? ( Antares 7 )

Hi All, I’m unsure of the purpose of this black strip on the bottom of my windscreen, it’s seemed to of deteriorated over time , so I was thinking like a black vinyl or similar to go over it would help?

I had similar on my car where the laquer was failing. I got some black gloss vinyl wrap and covered it. Was great for about 5 years then the vinyl started to delaminate. Was a bugger to get off and clean up but it now covered again.
As long as the surface is smooth then vinyl does the job.

I’d be surprised if vinyl wrap would stick well to that rubber seal given the condition it seems to be in. Surely it can be pulled out and replaced with a fresh one.

Is it some sort of mastic seal. If so a light sand might remove the surface cracking

It's not a rubber seal, i think you'll find it's silver paint, or possibly vinyl stuck to the screen.

Mask it up, a couple of mm above the silver, scrape and sand if off as best you can, cover with new vinyl.
