Quite extraordinary. Without lateral bracing( very long spinnaker pole lol)to restrain the arc of swing I am amazed the system is stable but clearly it is.
Theres a bridge up to the town of Taveira in Portugal that I used to shoot under sail by dipping the yard( junk rig).
When circumnavigating Mount Desert Island in Maine there's one road bridge which on paper looked very tight, so tight that I went through it backwards with the ebb taking me through and the outboard motor in hand to gun away if the vhf ( or worse) touched. Not quite as dramatic as it sounds cos it was an unstayed rig, so would accept a bit of flexing if it encountered the bridge structure.
Hardly in the same league as the Vero Beach pics but fun enough at the time.
