Hello chaps,

I need a replacement hours counter for my Oceanis 351 - the only requirement is that it should be 12v and rely solely upon the 52mm hole in the binnacle for mounting. Any suggestions anyone?

Hi Courageous!

I've just bought a Vetus hour meter (arrived yesterday) from Mailspeed Marine costing around £46.00. I was put off VDO stuff a year or three ago when I found that they didn't keep spares for, or could repair, a Logic fluxgate compass that was just 2 years old and again recently when they couldn't offer a replacement for the hour meter forming part of my VDO tachometer!! Decided then to buy no more of their products. However, I can't see that an hour meter (especially at the quoted eBay price) would cause you any sleepless nights! Someone will probably tell me the Vetus one is a 'badged' VDO now!! Ah well!

Good sailing!

Re: Hours Counter - Not round but

I’ve just fitted a rectangular 5 digit LCD hr mtr. from Radio Spares.
Stock # 365-6274 £22.06
A very neat little job, it also has a resetable trip timer.
They also do circular ones.

Re: Hours Counter - Not round but

Hi Nigel!

Yep, a friend of mine put me on to that item, but I wanted a waterproof meter - just in case! May well be that the Radio Spares one is also nominally watertight, but I didn't want to risk it.

Good sailing!
