What a lazy bunch you are ! I water a plot four times the size of Teddington lock every day with watering cans and always wash my boat with a bucket on a bit of rope dipped into the river .

" The washing of boats ie valeting with a hose-pipe will not be permitted BUT it will be permissible to wash the decks for "Health and Safety" reasons. Seems fairly pragmatic, and hopefully other water companies will take the same stance."


Basically you can wash your windows to maintain vision and scrub your decks and any other surface you may need to walk on.
That leaves about 10% of me boat unwashed...most probably the fiddly bits that always seem to get curiously "missed" anyway

I've joked before about it being special where my boat is, (Lechalde), but the water is unually clear at present. Near to the bank, so not too deep, I can see the river bed and fishing swimming about.

Perhaps you could encourage some teens to set-up a boat-cleaning summer job and we'll all come up and use your nice clean water

Apologies for my English. I am very English and not too thick. I am a little concerned that I increasingly type daft things like 'fishing swimming about' when I mean fish swimming about. I am 45 years old. Is this normal decline?

My problem is where I moor. Anything that ends up in the water stays there and just gets moved from one side of the marina to the other depending on which way the wind is blowing. Heaven forbid that anyone should actually do something about it.

Told today by our team leader that not only can we not use a hosepipe , but we cannot pump water from the river with a 110v pump to water the garden. Watering cans on bits of rope only.

I fully plan to comply with the hosepipe ban - as soon as the water companies stop leaking 25% of the water out of their pipes. Hoses are literally "a drop in the ocean". It is a symbolic gesture to try to make people use less water by choice.
