I take it that you're talking about the hose that joins the stern tube to the gland.

It's a special hose indeed, it's built to withstand torsional stresses as well as all the grease.

Where abouts are you located?
I only know of one place to buy things like that and it's in Falmouth but there will definitely be others.......

Any decent chandlers or marine engineers will get it for you. Also mail order companies such as ASAP or stern gear specialists - Lake Engineering, T Norris, Sillette Sonic.

I bought a section 2 years ago from Portmere Rubber.
ASAP wanted to sell me exhaust hose as did a local marine engineer. The stuff from Portmere Rubber is far superior and is Lloyds approved.

Hi All
Anybody know where I can get a piece of hose for the stern gland? Its about 40mm inside dia, and about 100mm long. What spec does it need to be, I suppose it needs to be grease resistant as a minimum.
Cheers

High David

Yes the stern tube rubber is special and NOT normal rubber and is thicker walled, got mine from http://www.tnorrismarine.co.uk/ who will supply just the length you want.

It's the same as marine exhaust pipe, an off-cut can be found at most boat-yards.

Noooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!! Please dont offer advice which affects watertight integrity unless you really know what you are talking about !! It nothing like the same ,except colour perhaps , If you still insist that its the same as exhaust hose please post your source of information .
