You're right!

It is one of ours (Vanguard Class) ... with the protective panels fitted after the 'French' incident .... ;)

Good photo Spyro ... (Y)

Have you noticed over the last week or two the 'Sub-facts' broadcasts by Stornaway list every bloody area there is from Ardglass to Zeebrugge. I thought the idea was to give fishermen a chance of avoiding them but it would appear that the RN having not pulled any trawlers under for a few years have become complacent and now only pay lip service to the idea.
If there is only one sub. at sea at a time and it is going up the Clyde on the surface who are they trying to confuse?

What? please tell me they didn't hit France surely?

Pete

The French bomber and our bomber decided to get up close and personal while on patrol. Trekking around blind and silent in the North Atlantic and they managed to play bumper cars.

Once motored up past Ailsa Craig towards the Clyde and saw a big sub heading out on the surface at speed. Nice glassy flat calm very early morning, our forehatch wide open. Sub passed about half a mile to port - when it's wash hit us our bow went underwater and about 50 gallons came down the forehatch. The nuclear ones have power to spare...

Is it true they can enter faslane completely submerged? All the way up the Clyde?

I'm probably the only once-upon-a-time air force navigator who's had an Air Miss filed against him by the Captain of a Polaris nuclear sub, in the foggy lower reaches of the Clyde.

I did notice some white things - like seagulls - go past the wingtips....
