I may well have upset the Major the other day, we were broad reaching along the Straits & he was approaching from the East. The wind was S 5 gusting 6+ as it came of the shore around trees, houses, mountains & valleys.

Most of the time with genny part rolled we were slightly underpowered, but as the BIG gusts hit us (and not all were big ones) SR simply ignored the helm & rounded up into the wind untill the gust dropped bac down again. He must have wondered why we kept swinging into his path at irregular intervals.

Trouble is, in his enclosed cabin, he probably didn't know how much wind there was, or where it was coming from, so he is unlikely to have understood our boat's behaviour. So there is another lesson for you MoBo'rs when you don't understand the sudden direction changes of Raggies. It's all physics & natural weather situations, but in a plastic box, you don't get any concept of the conditions acting on sailboats.

I think at one time or another I could ahve fitted into all of the above apart from Comercial. They all have as much right to be on the water as I have, I just have low expectations of them all and that way I am rarely disapointed

I am amazed at the overwhelming dislike towards jet skis

I see them heading at me from all directions to splash through my wake but they keep a safe distance, what is the problem with them

Even more reason for a rolling exclusion zone centred on your boat

But seriously, they tend to be concentrated in marinas and areas you are likely to be using a small dingy to get to shore, or swimming. At sea they aren't a problem.

Anyone that returns my daughter's enthusiastic waves with the sort of look that is normally reserved for when you find something that you have trodden in on the bottom of your shoe.
I hate to point fingers but the wind powered vessels do seem to be more prone to this. Very small and very large being the worst.
The kids sometimes get very hurt by it because they don't understand what they are supposed to have done wrong. Neither do I to be honest!

Until you're in a boat capable of 6 knots and they're flat out heading straight for you - are they going round you, in front or behind? Or have they even looked ... can be a bit un-nerving - especially as there is nothing you can do about it.

Jetskis seem to be attracted to my wake like wasps to jam. Never caused me any concerns though. I always think of them as being slightly unsavoury but I don't really know why.
Stereotypical prejudice at its finest I suppose.

They are a minor annoyance at sea, but when you are trying to row to shore they are a bloody menace!

Could not agree more, there is no excuse for bad manners, and for goodness sake, if people cannot wave back at kids, they must be right miserable gits.

Oi! ... Im not f... oh I see what you mean ... I'm not an idiot and my hull isn't that thick or steel! - a PWC hitting my vessel broadside will at best - put a whacking great big hole in her - at worst she'll sink ... and I rather suspect the later will come fairly soon after the former!
Not that I expect them too - but you never know when steering or throttle will jam - or something else means they'll give you a glancing blow ...
