Decided to anti foul and launch my boat. What's the thinking on moving it to Honfleur for a while, use it as a floating cottage for a time then go through the canals south or bring it back to UK. Any thoughts or other ideas ?

Thanks in anticipation.

Honfleur is lovely, of course, but part of the decision might be about which berth would be easiest to connect with, car parking or public transport. I can't answer this re Honfleur though.

How long are thinking of spending in the canals? We may be limited next year!

Don't know Honfleur, but there's a marina in Ouistreham which is a mile from the ferry terminal. That might be simpler while coming and going.

I adore Honfleur; it's a lovely town.

I've been sniffing around it myself, as it's so quick and easy to get to from where I live just west of Paris. know for a fact that there are berths available, pricing very reasonable. (I seem to remember around €53/M2 per year).

They've built some new showers and added more pontoons in the basin carnot (which is a lot quieter than the vieux basin).

Writing this with Stargazer ensconced in the Vieux Bassin. Our first visit. Delightful spot, indeed. Although probably a bit wearing as a long term berth, as opposed to a cruise ‘experience.’ Did notice a cluster of berths, with resident boats on them, in Bassin de l’est. Was very pleasantly surprised at visitor rate, for such a ‘honeypot’ location. Same as Dieppe and Fecamp were charging, for pleasant, but far less illustrious surroundings.

The walk up the hill to the old chapel is worth it. Try to be there on the hour to watch the bell-ringing machine.

Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce 14600 Équemauville, France Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce

Thanks for that, tip! Its a beautiful sunny morning here and I've been out with the camera. (After that perfect shot of Stargazer in front of the classic Honfleur slate hung buildings, for the Blog). Was looking for a decent walk to work off some energy - Chapelle Notre Dame de Grace it is!There seems to be a market setting up around the Vieux Bassin too. ... Time for some tourism.

I really liked Honfleur, but the crew both hated it. They complained that the cafes and bars didn't close until 2 or 3 in the morning with all the attendant noise and the bin men came around 5 in the morning with loud bin lorries and huge wheely bins.
I slept soundly so , I think they both had guilty consciences.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, the bassin Carnot is a lot quieter, and still not far to walk to the town centre.

I’ve always been a great believer in wax earplugs when tied up to a town quay

It's all a matter of taste of course but I considered moving to Honfleur and stayed there for a while. Total tourist town almost 100% geared to tourism and very expensive... living costs and difficult to access except by sea...
I would consider Dieppe which is lovely - wonderful history - superb marina with a car ferry from Newhaven,
Ouistreham is nice too and has a ferry dock...
and best of all where I live is Boulogne sur mer 30 minutes from Calais with excellent facilites, travel lift at amazingly low prices and my marina berth for a 10m is 1500 euros a year!!!!~!~
