Honda outboards

The first of the good 4 stroke engines. Hionda has always had a name as a 4-stroke manufacturer rather than a 2-stroke one. Thus they led the world in the introduction of superb quiet efficient engines. But there is a slight suspicion that they have been resting on their laurels for the last 5 years. Yamaha have the best rep now for small 4 strokes, but I am a bit out of touch on the larger ones.

Honda\'s Jet Drive

Sun coast,

Honda have developed a jet drive outboard in 35, 65, 105hp. Although only available in the US at the moment, you can import and still get full warranty.

I am led to believe that Honda have plans to introduce those engines here. Reports from one of my buddies who has one says the are a terrific bit of kit.... and of course with no prop to worry about.. etc etc

Have a look HERE

Good engine (afaik it's the accord 2 litre unit) but as an outboard package it isn't great because waaaay too heavy. The Yamaha or Mercury stuff is loads better, imho. I have not checked the specs but the weight difference was something huge, like 100lbs+

Yup all Hondas based on Car lumps so probably will be heavier than bespoke lump specifically designed for outboard. I gather 2 stroke injected O/Bs now not far from 4 stroke in terms of cleanliness & economy and should be slightly simpler as less moving parts.

Afraid you probably have to go to each mfrs. web pages and do the comparison yourself.
e.g. Yam F15 4stroke Man. start - weighs 45kg
Suzi M15 4str. Man start - weighs 45kg
Suzi E15 4str Elect. start - weighs 48.6kg
The Honda 15's weight is very similar to these.
