Anyone any ideas why the clutch does not disingage on my 2.3? Even with the engine stopped if I turn the prop the cylinder can be heard going through the motions, with it running on the slowest tickover the prop continues to turn. Is it adjustable or is there an easy fix?

The most likely cause ( he says bravely) is the friction shoes which fly out when you rev the engine and grasp the outer clutch drum are stuck to the clutch drum.

The shoes in the centrifugal clutch are either seized on the pivot or the springs which retain the shoes at low speed are broken or jamming causing permanent drive. To cure this you will need to remove the power head (engine from leg).

I would gladly swap yours for mine. I think it is a good feature to have permanently running, as you dont lose steerage as you slow down to crunch the pontoon with the dinghy.
maybe its a blessing in disguise.

The best idea would be to purchase a Workshop Manual. You could pobably get one for under £20 form a chandlers. Seloc or Clymer manuals are very helpful. They are the outboard equivelant to Haynes manuals. All the best, Leona.

The experts and professionals in the USA regard Seloc and Clymer manuals as suitable for stopping oil drips falling on the floor and not much else. They usually cover far to many models over a far to great an age range and as as result are far too general. The Haynes car manuals at least are specific to one model.

There is no substitute I am afraid for the manufacturers workshop manual.
