I need help with a holding tank pump - its a self priming Jabsco unit but when you push the buttom to pump the macerator appears to be working but the pump never really engages. Is it possible that air is leaking in an preventing it from priming properly? Is there a way to manually prime these?

thanks

Expert advice at hand?

I suggest talking to Jimi - he's now a forum recognised expert in all things related to holding talks.

Is there a change over valve to select mac pump out and deck pump out if so is it in the correct position. If so you can select the deck outlet position and pour some water in the deck fitting then change the valve to mac outlet position and this should get the pump pumping.
This was a necassary task to do on one boat i know of to get the pump pumping.

Jabsco are probably right, if the pump runs and nothing happens it's almost always the impeller on the macerator pump or a blockage upsteream of it.
