Yes; I had to have a secondary cataract removed. It's done with a laser; no cutting involved!

Seconded : You don’t feel a thing , it’s just like someone clicking their fingers in your ear a few times . It’s the sack( for want of a better word ) behind the lens that gets a laser tweak or two , or “an extra couple for luck” as the doc then said ?
1:10 cataract ops or was it 1:4, can’t remember but not uncommon

I do remember (iirc !) the OP Roger commenting once, he experienced an operating theatre at some point that he had helped build - that must be quite unusual ?

pam had both etws dine about 3 yrs ago. And just repferto hace one eye zapped by laserdue to the cloudyness you menrioned all quite normal i undersrand.i hope hackis i oj nojed after eye test

hi chaps left eye was done last monday. All trluble free and vision is improved.itwas a strange experence the nxt eye will be easier now i know the drill.i have been avidly watxhink youtube vids. Ar reviews plus dutch waterways.ah the memorkes i hsveof many nice hplidaysdpanning over 40 ys. But very much hope tl rtn b4 too long.atb all i will keep an eye out 4 you all atb roger.

thankylu. Its been a diffixult 15 months wifh 9 months in be ans physio so mucho musclewastge that has csused more problems thsn the stroke did. Since discharge i hsve had a neuro physio team at home hrlm the local strole aftercare team. Upon discharge from addenbrookes 8 months agl i wa unabletl even stand up as my legs wee so weak sl qeamwith much exersicing plus the physio team i have msnaged to walkwith the aid of a walkkng stick. Tjis is akin to a mulking stool with a handle. But still a long way to gob4allowed to go solo.i am desperate to get some kndependace back.ln discharge i neededcarers at ome.theyareexcelent but td cost is from savinhs .and to fate over£9k so muxh 4 adult socialaervixes

Yea well you just keep fighting on , old sailor

Might mention , that if you are not already on it , claim AA which is Attendence Allowance , payable to those over retiring age who are in need of Help and Care and Assistance with their Normal duties at home ; its not dependent upon income , savings etc or producing Invoices or Bills etc etc

You might be able to get along OK with your finances but claiming AA should help you with other beneft claims , either now or in your future ; believe me Sailor in this Benefit Driven world very often one has to join the System somewhere to benefit further along the line , and you /we never know when !

Re the DVLA and driving licences , its just normal practice to issue a 3 year medical driving licence after having a trauma /opperation /certain illnesses , really no problem at all . I have held a 3 year licence for about 20 years now , regular 3 yearly optician tests , never had a refusal at renewal date

Moral is that vitreous detachment is only "Mostly Harmless"

update my left eye done 6 weeks ago and vision is much improved. Right eye booked in on 28th msrch09.30 hrs..with rhe same surgical team. I have high expectstions

I had the right eye sorted yesterday. Easier than the left eye as I knew what to expect. I was so relaxed I had a kip on the table.l am very pleased this morning. With the dressing removed my close vision is greatly improved.i will keep an eye out for you all

thank you I am now able to move myself with the aid if my 4 legged stickand as a result can mount a commode by myself.this is a life changer 4 me. I just have to keep at it. To enable us to get back on the water&freedom.we have so much to catch up on. So many missed pints in factory get back too
