Henri Lloyd leaky boots - The result

Henri Lloyd were careful for their reputation and, in the 36 years I've dealt with them, fair and offered good customer support.
All things change and their recent foray into sailing bling may have taken them away from the concept of "fitness-for-purpose".
From the tone of things so far I suspect that they'll offer you an ex-gratia replacement - that's what's happened to me on the last 2 occasions of a similar nature to yours.

Perhaps you are leaping to conclusions based upon a letter which they would have been forced to write under the terms of their product liability insurance.

Seems like a standard fob off to me. Needless to say we will not be purchasing any Henri Lloyd products in future, Musto, Gill and Dubarry for us I think!
Gill have so far replaced my boots in perpetuity each time they have leaked.

Boots have now been returned along with the following

" Dear Phillip

The QA department have come back to me. They do agree that the boots were leaking due to extensive wear.. We do pride ourselves on the quality and durability of our products but we now believe that the product has come to the end of its natural life. We have therefore have returned the boots to you. We hope you understand our reasons and this does not deter you from buying Henri Lloyd products in the future.

Kind regards

Debra "

So, there you have it folks, the life expectancy of Henri Lloyd boots is about 3 years if you don't wear them too often. I suspect they didn't determine the cause of the leaks, the boots show little wear on the soles so quite how they decide they're extensively worn is beyond me.

Needless to say, there'll be no more Henri Lloyd products being purchased by us in the future.

My HL boots are about 3 years old & very lightly worn, if they start leaking I will be expecting a somewhat better outcome :(

This does sound like very poor customer service from a company which is aiming to be a premium brand.
For the education of the forum, could you post photographs of the boots to illustrate what this "extensive wear" looks like?

Don't hold your breath! I returned an eighteen month old leaking Henri Lloyd Ocean jacket some years ago, which the company refused to repair on the basis of overuse. It had been used no more than a couple of dozen times by my father. Speaking of Henri Lloyd, didn't its boots recently get panned as leaky and cold by one of those unofficial Clipper review blogs?
