Never done this particular job before so before I get the hammer out, though best to check here. On the bow of my new-to-me Skanner 19, there is a piece of teak trim positioned amidships fore and aft dividing the foredeck in half. To port is an opening anchor locker. It’s about 1/2” thick by 7” wide and a couple of feet long. Half rests on the GRP deck and half on rotten plywood, which I am replacing. The price is held in place with eight stainless nuts and bolts, the heads of which are concealed beneath wooden plugs.
still with me? Right, my questions are…
How do I get the bolts out of the teak plank? Bash with hammer or drill out the plug?
When it comes to refitting, where can I buy teak plugs to fill the holes after the bolts are fitted?
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
