Help with my move to the med feasibility study

Of course, you could consider Sant Carles - (but I'm sure you were all expecting me to say that)
Way cheaper -there is a T52 and lots of Sealines here so you wouldn't be lonely.
Not quite as accessible by air as Antibes but easier by road and lots of local (very cheap) hotels.
Also an on-site swimming pool - great for the little ones/families.
Lagoon is great for the older ones - water skiing etc
And only 100 miles from the Balearics arguably the best cruising waters in the Med.
C2C also deliver boats here but there are others delivering.
But the big advantage is that it is VERY cheap.

Only trying to balance the discussion.

PS
Your boat would be perfect for the Med - she was when we had her - A/C throughout (even though it is above waterline discharge!) - passerelle and a good bimini that I fitted.

SCM is a very close second. I have been there and looked around but it was a little too far from barcelona and a little too "rural" for me. I *THINK* I would prefer the "high life" of the Côte d'Azur with all the other stuff to do on land but of course I don't know until I have been there and sampled it.

Thanks for fitting the Bimini! I have only had it up once to check how it worked. It would be nice to have the weather to actually need it!

Yep it is the High Life that I like to get away from.
My problem is that I don't like lots of people!!

You might want to take a look at Majorca as well, particularly one of the Palma marinas. I'm got get flamed for this but IMHO Majorca and the Balearics is a way better cruising area than SoF, it's cheaper all round, Palma itself is an attractive city and there's loads to do on land in Majorca especially for kids. Flights are plentiful throughout the year and being further south, there's a chance that the winter weather is milder

Have a look at the Nice Ports website. You can apply for an annual berth at any of their ports which include Cannes and Villefranche Sur Mer. This might suit you better if you are doing atoe in the water approach.

Sunseeker France also have a wide range of berths available for sale at different marinas in the area. You don't have to get fixated by PV.

Wherever you choose there will be helpful expats and locals.

We are also considering a similar move, we are currently based in Port Leucate but the winds this year delayed our departure to the Cote D’Azur by 2 weeks! After spending about 6 weeks cruising the Cote D’Azur and Italy this season we have decided to escape Leucate next spring for a year’s trial around the Rivieras. The big question is where to? Our favourite Ports were; Vieux Port Cannes (bookable online) – good position for market, shopping and restaurants, also convenient, dedicated coach to Nice Airport (20 Euros each way), Sanremo Portosole- again good shopping, restaurants and what we consider to be the friendliest and most helpful marina staff we came across! Great support service; we had our first Volvo engine service carried out here. Portosole is also not far from Menton (France) which apparently has the most reasonable diesel prices along that coast - €1.40 per litre) as opposed to €1.70 in Italy. JFM mentions Loano which is further along the Italian Riviera. It is a super marina with fantastic facilities, great Yacht Club and restaurant and helpful staff but in peak season it was only about a third full so felt like the party hadn’t quite got started. Finally I’d like to add we were lucky to meet the Antibes Posse at the Cannes Boat show, who are incredibly helpful with all sorts of advice and support!

Antibes Posse? I thought they were the Antibes Massive?

I have certainly found people to be a lot more helpful in the SofF than around the UK when it comes to boating and certainly not as predjudiced. Maybe I mix with a strange crowd then again.....

Completely agree with you about San Remo, we found them to be really helpful and friendly (and cheap!) when we visited in the summer. The only slight disadvantage that I can see is the longer commute from the airport at Nice, but that aside it would be a great choice.

Raggy versus mobo and the MAB versus ABW loons as well. People just appear to be happy to be on the water and seeing others enjoying themselves.
