Dear Forum,
I'm hoping someone may be able to help me with findng out the type of gear box that I have, as I'm trying to work out how I can get it to work.
On my first outing on my boat, the propeller got caught in some rope that was attached to a car tyre and has basically stopped the propeller from turning.
The propeller will turn both in or out of gear when I push around by hand. Its not turning around the prop shaft, the shaft as I recall does turn, however when I start the engine and put in gear, there is no movement either forward or reverse.
Completely useless at mechanics, but just trying to establish possible causes. I have been told it might be a bolt that can shere off inside, but if I can get an idea of gear box type I may be able to find a usefull manual or at least make sure oil level is correct type, as been advised t make sure sufficient oil in gearbox as its a hydralic system.
Engine is a 2.2 BMC
Many thanks for your time, boat is at Langstone harbour.
