Hi all, need some advice and help please. Having been brought up on saily boats and moving to the dark side 3 years ago, I am now considering moving back again!

My reasons are fairly straight forward, I like the idea of re-learning to sail, and I want a new project having re-fitted my current boat. I am also worried about the effect of an increase in diesel fue-l both in boat value and future use.

I have been looking at the Hunter Ranger 245 with a view to home completion. I would appreciate any views of this boat, along with some encouragement to move back to life at a more sedate pace!!! Please tell me Im not beyond help!!

Contradiction in terms, 'Home completion' and 'Residual value':)). As good a boat as many for your project, well laid up and reasonably easy to sell again, perform well.

I had a Hunter 26 that was home completed. Unlike most kit boats, the Hunters are complete in a structural sense and what you are doing is fitting trim and peripherals.

Good boats, solid laminate hulls which is a definite plus compared with the modern trend to balsa and sandwich. fairly light - no leaving the tiller to make a pot of tea. You can get bilge keels and dont really lose out much by having them. And the company used (when I had my boat) to give good service. What they are like now post the takeover, I do not know.

Quite fancy doing one of their kits myself.
