Hi, don't know if this is the right place to start, but you'll tell me no doubt!..

i have an old Osborne Kingswift, and it's about time the restoration was started. the storey so far..... the thing was bought about 3 years ago as a project, to be started when time and funding allowed... that time is fast approaching.

I was due to enlist the help of an old boat builder who promised that he would be able to do some of the work, but alas couldn't be sure of quite when..

suffice to say that i'm going to need some "profesional" help or at least someone who (unlike me) knows about working with mahogany, and can either do some of the work or give advice on how best to progress it.

so if you know of anyone who would be prepared to offer assistance to restore her to her former glory (not too much work actually) please get in touch.

i'm on the Frome at Wareham in Dorset, about 9 miles from Poole. Hopefully there will be enough interest from magazines to generate some usefull advertising for anyone (should that be of interest) so i'm looking at more local boatbuilders etc...

or any points of veiw from you will (and always are) more than welcome.

heres to hoping that we can get it done this year... steve.

Steve, I take it you are refering to "Fast Monarch" I noticed that not much had happened ( Is it really 3 years ) I was going to get in touch to see if you wanted to sell her as a restoration project....I take it from your post that the answer would be no!!
Cheers Iain

yep.. 3 years!.

i bought her to restore... bit of a timing problem!

my house is now donw so the old girl's coming out in may.

not actually too much to do, but i want to change a few small things round in the cabin, install a decent shower, new head etc. i wanted to get in touch with someone who knows wood, as i'm not all that good (getting better tho')

i also have some routine maintenance to do on the leg, and one of the engines needs a quick rebuild, but i can do that myself.

oh... and repaint... she does need a repaint!

i did consider selling her on.. to someone who would have re built her, but i'm glad i didn't.. she'll make a lovely family boat when she's done.

trying to keep a web diary but i'm having trouble with the URL.

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sw.amos>http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sw.amos</A>

thanks for showing an interest, if you see me on her, give me a shout... i'll apologise now for the swearing!

regards, steve.

Hi
I used to own an Osborne too, and the guy who rebuilt her is looking for shipwright work right now - there's nothing he doesn't know about woodern boats and Osborne's in particular. Geoff is retired now, but works on boats to supplement the government's insult of a pension - he works like a trojan
Call Geoff Stanfield on 07791 626755 and tell him that I sent you (brownie points for the next tub of dreams I'm saving up for)

Good luck

Jonathan
