Evening all,
Been away for week on the boat, fantastic week, visiting st Kats, the medway marinas, crouch and back to Blackwater, fantastic weather, really enjoyed it, small glitch though, over the week my port kad32 made no responce to turn of key, several times other than dials and lights going out, its as if you are trying to start in gear, messed about with wiring under throttles, checked connections then it started, ok, then did it a again couple of days later, checked connections again, nothing, getting worried by now, so down in engine bay checking connections, everything seems good, boat serviced by volvo paul last year, new battries etc so not them... pressed reset fuse button and checked connections in the black box, fires up pronto... ok again for couple of days, same again not starting, pressed reset, checked relay connections etc, black box, fires up pronto again, Whats the problem? had new bowthruster fitted in the winter... Is it a relay problem? seems when i check connections in the black box it fixes.....HELP!!!

There's a little switch in the control box that is meant to stop you from accidentally starting "in gear". Check this switch and the wiring to it.

Also, check the multi-pin connector to the black box: WD40 plus make sure there aren't any bent pins.

Hi Nick if you having to reset the breaker then there is a short somewhere either on the engine loom or between the engine and the dash panel, or on the dash itself.

I had something similar with my port 32 last year. It was a dodgy connection (intermittent) on the socket that the relay plugs into inside the black control box. Every time I took all off the connections sprayed wd40 everywhere pressed reset etc it generally decided to start. Eventually removed the socket and connected the wires directly to the relay. Now working fine

thanks for replies, when bow thruster fitted port engine not firing, checked connections under console, near thruster controls, loose wire, reconected and then engine ok, however problem seems to have come back, somebody once said to me (at eby) more problems arise frome having work done... seems right! as in leave well alone! will start checking more conections etc.. the electrician who did his bit charged a fortune as well!
