Help, I'm bored, how about your favourite photos of the year

Westerly Owners Medway get together.

I didn't realise you were really Uncle Albert! Good stuff.

Well the sun has risen here again. The morning is utterly still, but the peace broken now and then as the generators start up to counter the regular power cuts. Refains from Nelson Mandela's funeral can be gently heard once the generators go off and peace is restored. I was thinking it seems a thousand miles from the East Coast - but then it is init - but still it reminds me of waking up after lying at anchor overnight just down from Southey Creek opposite Oea Island on a summer Sunday morning. The last of the ebb tide quietly chuckling against the lands of the clinker hull while in the distance the unmistakable intake roar of a Seagull can be heard. SWMBO adds another but welcome intrusion of sound with bacon sizzling in the pan and slight clank of the tray as she checks on the toast. The sun is appearing over Ramsey Island and the sky is blue promising a placid morning and a sea breeze starting at midday. Few people will hear that delightful sound of 'chuckling lands' these days and even fewer the roar of the Seagull but I suppose that's progress. The day's strategy? We'll start the Stuart after breakfast and motor while the calm holds down river as far as we can, so that when the tide turns and the sea breeze fills in, we can turn round and run up river eventually to our mooring..............

It's dark and grey out there, so I feel like a reminder of summer too. It wasn't a great year for photos as I broke my camera and had to make do with a cheapie. We got plenty of sunshine in the Baltic though, but not much sailing.
