Hi

Helps if you fill out your info saying who you are etc etc then people can get an idea about you and also helps them to make a reply.

Need to know where you want to boat, from berthing also, what budget , what experience you already have, how big a family wife kids etc, do you want to stay on it at weekends.

Rental unless loads of money and qualifications then forget it, buying abroad ie Europe can have some advantages and loads of brokers for boats around click on buing a boat near the top of the page for info.

Best of Luck

I'd suggest visiting either Nationwide Boat Sales or Essex Boat Yards to get an idea for what you might like - both have lots of boats on site to look at.

hi thanks for getting back to us, we live in london but have a place out in the canary islands so are spending more and more time by the water and in it, we have two kids one is past the age he wants to be with mum and dad on all his hoildays, but kieran is only nine we would have between 4 and 7 persons on the boat we tend to hoilday with other family members, we are not sure yet if we would just use the boat out in the canarys or if we would base it here i supose it depends on how much we love it and how often we will be using it only time and experience can answer that, I am going to be joining up for some courses soon befor i do anything, if i am going to do this im going to do it right{hopefully} so really experience at the mo is nill apart from when we have hired out power boats when on hoilday, of course if we get any good at this we would love to be able to stay overnight or weekends on it, so i want to get the right kind of boat to start with
in the begining we thought just a power boat would be fine but maybe we will want to go offshore a bit and i want something that is up to that as well. Budgets dependds on new or used age, size ect when I mentioned renting out our boat i wasient meaning to rent it skippered, just to let it to companies who just want boats to charter out if there is such a thing.
regards
chris and pauline.

It usually takes us lot, three or four boats before we find the right one. Some even buy a boat, then find they dont like it at all!! Hardest thing is finding a mooring in the first place, after that just buy what you think might be ok, it probably wont but you will have a better idea of what you do want. Third or fourth will be about right.../forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: Oh please......

can you use a spell-checker?

It's a PITA (pain in the ar**) but it is annoying when newbies ask for help/advice and cannot express themselves clearly (rant over, partially)

Hang on a mintue, you may be 4 or 3 people, but you want to boat with 4 to 7 and you don't know whether you want to do it around the Canaries, or the UK, AND you want to rent it out, therefore you want advice on what to buy. If I have summed it up fairly accurately, my advice is to make your mind up what you want to do and with what budget first, then there MIGHT be some advice/prejudice forthcoming.

On the present info available, I am afraid I could recommend anything between a second-hand 3.45M inflatable (circa £500 and I know where one might soon be for sale) and a new Benettti 120M (> £5M).

Without trying to be funny, which would be more suitable for you?

Do not expect to recover any of the money spent on the boat! It is an expensive business! You either loves it and pays loads for it or just charter when you want to the use of a boat!

Tom

Ps If you have a boat you really love you will find it very hard to let someone else use it? Because you will just be fixing things rather then enjoing the boat?
