Hi,

We are going to a Dinner and have been informed that the dress code is "Yacht Dress". Now I guess that means trousers and a blazer for blokies but what about for the girlies.... I do not own a dress!!!

Depends on the YC

If it's a bit R2R then paint splattered t-shirt and oil covered jeans;
If it's scuttlebutt then salt encrusted fleece with salt stained jeans;
If it's classicboats then beard, wooly jumper and cords;
If it's Mobo then anything with an Italian desginer label on it will do;
If it's liveaboard then a thong;
If it's the Lounge then straightjacket and leather facemask.

Seriously, I'd have thought a lounge suit and dresses for the girlies, some clubs are still a bit odd regarding trousers.

I went to a do that specified 'yachting best'. It came down to what you would wear in a yacht club in the evening, i.e. jacket & tie for the guys, something smarter than jeans for the ladies but long dress would be OTT.

Smart trousers and top - not jeans or a top that is so low cut as to bring the commodore out in a rash /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Peter.

Toodle Oo!
They expect very little from Stella/Landie owners anyway. Does this mean you are in touch with polite society now then? Cant be a do at the Crouch. How posh.
How about clean Chinos, Deckies, and a plainish blouse with a silk scarf or similar? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Have a nice time, give my regards to 'im.

I have an RCYC v-neck sweater in the back of the car. Only worn once. If you're short enough you could add a belt and it may pass for a dress. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

JimDew - Did you ever join?

Yeah right,

Jeans and T shirt at my club. Shorts if it's a nice day.

Can't believe any clubs expect members to wear jacket and tie. Unless it's an occasion of course.

For him, white or light biege trousers, white shirt (preferably stuffed), club blazer with wire club badge, club tie(may be substituted by club cravat on informal club nights)

For her, cocktail dress, or smart trouser suit with white or pastel silk blouse, club gold and enamel broach, court or dress shoes.

Can't go wrong with a nautical theme....
