Hi all and thank you for allowing me to join. Being new to boat ownership, I am trying to finish off a complete rebuild of an old 14' cuddy fishing boat and would really appreciate some help please. I need to fit deck drainage but the deck is at, or below the waterline so I was wondering what the best solution would be. I have attached photos which will hopefully help. The deck floor is 18mm marine ply with 2 layers epoxied 400 biax cloth and the hull is 2 layers of the same, sandwiching the original polyester shell with new stringers and a keel drainage channel to the opening under the stern seat.

many thanks, R

Welcome!

You may have to either wait or post a couple more times before you are allowed to upload photos.

Thanks folks, I did re-size the photos so it must be just too soon for me to post them. Thanks also for the sump and pump ideas. I read on another forum that the deck should have separate drains but , to be honest, I think that's for larger, sea going craft, not a wee inshore/loch cuddy like mine so I will go with that as a plan!!

cheers, R

yep, just cut into the sole a good size square hole to fit a good bilge pump. laminate in a GRP box and make a lid, either holed or edge cut outs to let water in.

BTW fine looking boat is that :) .

Many thanks for all the kind comments. No, I didn't note the waterline as it has not seen water since I bought it but hopefully this summer will see her "wetted"!!
