Re: Bavvy 49

Which issue of pbo is it? Can it be accessed on this website and "He who is in the shadows" wants to know if the speed would significantly be improved with hi tech sails even if combined with in mast furling. How slow is slow anyway?

Thanks, Ange

Does Angela101 share idiom, vocab and interests as well as her bed (when there's no footie on the plasma) with Steve101? Or is Steve sometimes dragging up and IMPERSONATING Angela101 in some of these messages. We need to be told. Hi Steve.

Current peeboo.

Sort of 7.5 - 8kts.

Sails are pretty hi-tech cruising Elvstroms, and the Elvstrom sail maker was aboard. Would probably go faster with a proper mainsail, instead of a roller blind.

The one tested also sported a deep, lead keel, rather than a shorter iron one.

Re: Bavvy 49

Does seem a trifle lethargic. We're a little bigger (51 LOA), and have double (!!!!) the displacement at about 24tonnes, and our SA/D is way down on B49 in the current YW, yet I would say our speeds are slightly UP on those quouted.

We do have genuinely hitech sails (Tapedrive, fully battened main stowed the oldfashioned way) We dont have any overlapping headsails, so I am a little surprised we are quicker. Unlike the Bav we dont reef the main until we have nearer 25knots across the deck - and we still carried full sail off the wind in 42 knots true in Biscay last year - which gave us a nice round 14knots.

Steve says "hi!" He found it increasingly difficult to catch up after he missed a few weeks before christmas and has opted to buy a cd-rom (ironically) which he says you suggested. We haven't had a chance to install it yet, but I guess we will when things begin to slow down after easter. He'll be back on BYM when he gets five minutes.
The 36, which nicho has gone for (but twin aft) turned out to be just a tad too small for our growing family and our requirements ie Get the friends who introduced us to boating on our own boat for a week of Alcohol and tutoring (probably in that order hehe.)

Angela,

Welcome to ybw.

I would just like to clarify that any 'Saddam-like' behaviour was not on our part. But the analogy is quite good. There are, after all, only so many UN resolutions one can issue I suppose.

Steve had his chances but we do not tolerate abuse of the kind he was dishing out to some of the users here towards the end of his tenure. Everyone welcome as long as they respect other users and the Ts and Cs under which we operate.

I'd support a campaign for his pardon - hasn't he been in the sin bin long enough? Ange, if we supported a campaign for his return with His Kimminess, he wouldn't lets us down with a relapse in his behaviour would he??

Putting up with HIWGO (him indoors with gadget overload) you must be a truly remarkable woman, Angela
Or may we call you Angie? ;-)

It's a pleasure to have you aboard . . .

Kim,

Thank you for the welcome, I wasn't sure if the mere mention of the family name would see me encarcerated. Being of the fairer sex obviously endows me with somewhat more patience than my other half.
