I am not sure if this is the right place for this but I recently purchased a boat called a Princess v39 on ebay. Luckily the seller was very helpful and I managed to get my boat serviced with new anodes etc and dropped in the water at Brighton marina. (Over 4k to park a boat are they crazy). Being clueless I may well be asking the most ridiculous questions you have ever heard on this forum but hopefully I can het enough help to not sink, cappsize or drown. I had my maiden voyage last saturday and it was generally scarey as hell so it did not last too long but I guess lesson 1 is 1. The has big scarey waves......

congrats on your new boat - a wise choice. Can't go wrong with a Princess
if you have never owned a boat like this before and you want to go to sea, get yourself on a Day Skipper course asap. Great fun and you will learn loads very quickly and build some confidence.
You will soon get the hang of it all.

welcome ,yes 4k is ball park even on the low side ,but you have not asked any questions yet ,good luck
 
Nope not in Liverpool I live just north of London. I did have visions of spending most of the summer on tbe coast on the boat but boat expenses do not appear to lend themselves to a summer of not working......
 
Congrats on the new boat, V39 a very capable boat. Ref your training, I'd second the suggestion for some own-boat tuition, a day of pontoon bashing will help enormously. Lagoon Watersports in Brighton Marina can sort this out for you. An easy alternative would be to do the RYA Powerboat 2 with them, on your own boat. This would cover all general handling of the boat as well as giving you a ticket you can use to rent boats abroad if you wish.

The other guys are advocating lessons but the first lesson you need to learn is to beware of amyone who asks you do want to look at the golden rivet. Allegedly put on the keel when the boat is built. :)

V39 is a lovely boat. Training, practice, an open wallet and a fridge full of beer will see you right. Good luck!
 
You could start with the RYA dayskipper theoy on-line whilst you're booking your practical. Worth taking, and usually a prerequisite for the practical if you don't have a lot of experience already.

Also, as advised earlier, make sure your safety and nav equipment is up together. Lifejackets, radio, flares, GPS, charts, and make sure you know when/how to use them.

Otherwise, welcome and enjoy. Boating can be a great hobby.
