I currently use a fan heater as I dont have a heating system built into my boat.

Its a bit noisy and really difficult to get a good temperature. Does any one have a good solution thats safe, quiet and effective as I dont want to go to the expence of having a deisel heating system installed?

If you've got the space to stow them then one or maybe two small oil-filled radiators could work. Keep the fan-heater to get the temperature up quickly when you need to. Apart from having to put them somewhere the only down-side is that they can get quite hot at full bore, so not 100% kid-friendly.

As a bonus you can leave it on in the engine room at a very low setting over-winter if you get the right type.

Agree with Grumpy oil filled rads give a gentle, non drying out heat. Buy a good one Delonghi or similar. We have a Delonghi and a cheapo supermarket one but find that the surface temperature of the cheap one gets very hot and especially in the restrictions of a boat, we are always touching it. Would be very bad if you had young kids on board.
