Anyone give good advice on Health Ins for couple, 50 and 53yrs old off to cruise the Med from Spring this yr please? Intend being away for as long as we can cope, at least 10 yrs we hope. Getting as far as Turkey but may spend most time in Greek Isles.

Also, anyone know anyone who has stayed out there in the sunshine when possibly in need of residential care or are you always obliged to return to Blighty? Wondering what happens if we decide to stay even into our dotage!!

Cheers and thanks for any help

Why do you need to bother in the countries of the EC? My experience of their equivalent of the NHS has always left me feeling that the UK is third world, so we have not bothered.

Dont forget your E whatsit form.

read/heard somewere that nhs is now sending people to eur for treatment..new place being built in greece for nhs ..think it was reported in daily mail..i agree with other post..uk system a pain in the butt.IMHO.....about time we were allowed to be europeans.and able to take with us our benifits ,pensions, sick pay etc..but if you read the info the restrictions are stupid..and the gov say we have freedom...must go otherwise will realy get started..good luck and enjoy your sailing..

Sure you're right, especially with what we hear lately, just was concerned at having to pay up front and then reclaim off E111 form. Still, probably cheaper in the long run
Thanks for response

Many thanks for response, will get E111 form and hope we avoid anything really grotty! As most say, better to get treatment abroad these days anyway.

In the little book in which your e111 is,is an explanation of which countries charge what...also what you dont get refunded....you will find you have less worry when your happy sailing..
