Havengore

Thursday is about 3-4 days after Spring tides. Received wisdom used to be that depth over the Broomway in feet is roughly equivalent to depth at Southend in metres - whether that has changed in recent years I don't know. HW at Southend on Thursday pm in forecast to be 5.5m so in theory you should have a bit to spare, assuming there is no negative surge. But bear in mind that if you do get stuck on the top of the tide you could be neaped for 8-10 days! Personally I don't think I would be attempting it with 1.4m draft except a day or so either side of Spring tides - I have done it in the past (> 10 years ago) with 1.4m draft but don't remember how close to Springs that was, I do remember that we had very little under the keel.

Thanks Mike. I’ll go the long way then.
Already had enough excitement this week, heading upstream into 36 knots over a massive tide and torrential rain. Not seen waves that big in a river (or sea) for quite some time.

ECP has a chartlet of the approach plus a lot of detailed info. The rule of thumb for height of tide over the Broomway is still valid as far as I’m aware.

Just by the way as you have decided to go round the outside, but I think they are only open Friday lunch to Sunday.
