This leaflet was given to me by someone who picked it up from the Environment Agency stand at SIBS.
I had heard odd rumours about this but nothing definite. Has anyone else seen it or is it news to you too?
Note that it says it is a pilot project for 2006! The leaflet itself is a 4 page A5 doument and includes a map and list of the locks that apply.

Keeper's office at Teddington had some on Saturday. While Teddington has had all that dosj spent then the fiver doesn't feel like robbery but would you want to spent a night at Molesey?

Of course the cunning, or careful with the cash, will moor from 19:00 to 08:30:) Or is it the EA finding a way of grabbing money?

Hadn't seen it and not sure this is a very clever idea, wouldn't mind betting 1/2hour after the lock keeper goes off duty, you won't be able to access the lock layby because it will be occupied with a couple of narrow boats!

Had trouble twice recently with boats moored on laybys having lunch, waiting for the lockkeeper to return from lunch. There is nowhere to go if you want to work the lock.
Narrowboaters in particular don't seem very sensible when picking the best place to moor, so if the lockkeeper is absent it will be chaos.

This is like putting prisoners in police cells and imegrants in B&B's

Didn't notice that, must be a typo, which just shows how much EA bods know about boats, can't be many up to 5m boats with sleeping accomodation.

I suspect it was specifically aimed at dayboats, because they wouldn't want to moor overnight:) My guess is that means that pretty much everyone is likely to have to front full whack and avoids bickering with locky over boat lengths

Had a phone call from an EA person that had kindly looked into this.
Apparently they were issued fairly recently (although not widely) but there are some issues with the leaflet and it is being kept low key until next year.

So.. watch this space.........

Is that 'modern' English for "someone screwed up"?
