Has anyone heard from Northernwave

Hello all
I'm ok and thanks for the concern.
Arthurwood was correct, I had no power for two weeks and had no water for four days. I still have no phone, cable or internet. I was very grateful for having a boat with a gen (that used diesel) and had 4000 gallons of water. People were lining up for 12 hours to get petrol for their cars and gens!!!
The whole area was a disgrace, with looting in many areas. I had a break in but only beer went missing, I had the whole house and area lit up from the boat so people didn't come my way. It was all like being in a third world country and I just can't understand how a state in such a wealthy country can get such frequent and long term power loses and how a storm can course so much disruption. Although this was the worse storm that Broward county had seen in 60 years.
The big boat had a stainless rail pulled off by the fenders, the varnished cap rails damaged in four areas and also the awlgrip in four areas, I popped 3 fenders and just about destroyed the dock. The sundeck door blew in filling the sunlounge with water which then ran down into the salon. Thankfully I minimized the damage there. The winds was so strong I wasn't able to even hold the door shut!!! In the end I got the electric srewdriver and screwed the thing shut!!! The red ensign was safly folded and stowed but my stars and strips is history!!! Some of the teak and maple decking in the sunlounge and in the salon got scratched from furniture getting tossed around. Alot of the damage could have been avoided if we hadn't been so light on fuel. Total damage on the boat approx $12,000. So not a bad figure really. Unforunately the deductable (excess) is $55,000 so not covered by insurance.
The house was hammered but thankfully no wind or water got inside, just losing a few roof tiles, an awning (which I should have brought in) and two doors got blown in.
The Garden was blown away with most of it in the pool or the neighbours house, a tree fell on the Ford explorer but didn't do much damage (light scratches) and my Jaguar was parked in a friends garage so that survived unscathed. The road to my has was totally blocked with trees and down power lines.

The lesson I learned!!
Next time the owner wants me to sit through a storm, is the time he looks for a new captain!!! I was lucky to only have cuts and bruising but I really had my life at risk especially when the aluminium roof panels from my neighbours house flew past me at 125mph.
But it was all something to tell my kids (if I ever have some???) 'When I was your age I sat through hurricane Ivan, Dennis, Katrina and Wilma!!! so eat your greens!!!'
Wilma doesn't blow she sucks!!!!

Chris
P.S I'm now in england enjoying the weather here but am so jet lagged!!!!!
