Harwich Halfpenny Pier

Levington is limited for eating etc, only the lightship or if you fancy a bit of a walk, the pub in Levington village is excellent. Mistley is worth a stop if you can take the ground. The Thorn is the place for excellent food.

Re:Footie

The good ship Stargazer is a football-free zone. We will be sailing whilst the "muddied oafs" are poncing and preening on Saturday afternoon, and were only intending to go ashore in the evening for a meal and a few beers.

Mmm - do I sound a bit curmudgeon-ish?

We stayed there for a couple of days on our 2004 summer cruise. It can get a bit lumpy, yes, but the piermaster watches over the boats and is not happy if there aren't enough fenders when it gets choppy and you're on the outside. If necessary he provides huge fenders to protect you.

We were quite pleased with the arrangements. Showers are huge.
We never really liked Harwich, but changed our minds after that stay.

There is a picture of Heerenleed moored on the outside of the pier, you can see it on my site at www.heerenleed.com, then go to log, then click on summer cruise 2004.

cheers & enjoy your stay
