Hangkai outboard motor

Does anyone have one of these? I bought a 2 stroke for £280. It is the only 2 stroke i could find, on Ebay. Brand new, made in china. I just tried it out here in Greece and it works. Not very powerful.
But I have some queries. Will it rust? I dont know what it is made of ( though it only weighs 9.5 kilos empty so must have some aluminium in it).
The service manual ( in terrible English) tells me what jobs need doing but not how to access the filters, the magneto ( the first time I have heard of these in an outboard) and other parts to service them . it doesnt refer to gear oil or any greasing, unlike my old Suzuki 2.

Any advice welcome.

Almost certainly will not comply with current emission regulations and therefore illegal to manufacture, import or sell in the EU.

Service and maintain it in the same general ways as your Suzuki, gear oil included. I hope they tell you what fuel/oil mix to use.

Probably uses a Suzuki (or such-like) impeller.

Check oil mix. I've seen some of these chinese malarkeys being suggested to run 25:1 so be careful before running it on 'normal' 50:1

Other than that, A good splurge of marine grease on everything that's unpainted wouldn't go a miss.

I think mine has a token plastic sieve in the fuel line.

Thanks for that. The manual refers to the spark plug gap, AND a magnoelectricity machine cleft of .02, which I take to be a magneto, but where is it?.
Also a fan leaf filter for oil, an air cylinder, a colander, and a foam filter element.
Chinese translation of course.

You are quite right but i am assuming the Op is buying it for recreational use.

How do you find it? How old is it? is it rusty? Does it matter if water goes in the air cooling vent at the top? It doesnt seem to have much power, do you find the same? So far we take 20 pulls to start it. press the bulb until it gets hard ie full of fuel, move choke lever up, and nothing for the first 19 pulls or so.

I 'd think it refers to the points gap in a points ignition system (0.020" would be about right) ... . but the specs say that that it had CDI.

There may be an air filter, but its very unusual in outboards. People dont use them much on dusty roads

There is probably a fuel filter somewhere. Tank outlet?? in line?? or carb inlet??

There wont be on oil filter on a premix 2stroke that I can imagine

what else it refers to heavens ( or the Chinese equivalent) knows. Water inlet strainer?

If you have the manual in Chinese (as well as Chinglish), you could send it to me, and my Chinese daughter-in-law will translate it properly.

Sorry, you misunderstand. By "mine" I meant "my small 2-stroke motor", not "my Hangkai dodgy knockoff thing"

My engine's a nice little Suzuki, bought as "used two or three times but still in the box in nearly-new condition", which is second only to "new old stock" in the post-ban world.

You can collect a new 2 stroke outboard in the Channel Islands.
Mainbrayce in Alderney were the best that I could find. They have Tohatsus.

I 'd think it refers to the points gap in a points ignition system (0.020" would be about right) ... . but the specs say that that it had CDI.

Possibly the gap refers to the flywheel-coil clearance, which would make sense given the mention of CDI.

Yeah I see the housing, but I'd be surprised if there is any form of filter in there. I've not seen one in any of the main manufacturer 'diddy' outboards and I can't see the point.
