Shame. My youngest used to work the Shepperton Ferry as a youngster many moons ago and it's a vital link for many walkers and cyclists using the Thames footpath. Hope they can reach a solution.
No beaches back in the 1960's when Hurst Park was a race course. Every year for Hampton SC's regatta we used to tow the clubhouse, the old Gosport ferry King Edward, across the river to the Hurst Park tow path just above the ferry. That allowed visiting dinghies to be berthed on the tow path for the weekend. The public ferry was then a rowing skiff and was well used - but certainly no jetty on the Hurst Park side. Happy days!
