It seems that over time what is sold as Hammar MA1 rearming kits have changed. The one on the left is the old style and the one on the right is the newer

I have just been servicing a couple of old lifejackets - trying to replace the old with the new - and while they appear very similar and seem to fit perfectly the replacements fail the 24 hour inflation test (to be honest they fail the 4 hours inflation test) but reverting to the old (out of date) style they stay inflated.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Or successfully replaced one with the other?

Contact Richard at RT Supplies. He sorted me out when my ancient Hamar mechanism on my Spinlock jacket needed replacing.

Note: Spinnlock have changed to UML mechanisms now. This seems to be the way to go to avoid obsolescence.

To report back for posterity should anyone read this thread.

I contacted both the supplier (Richard at RT supplies) and the LJ manufacturer (Crewsaver). Both said that they ought to work and were surprised they didn't. The 3rd LJ - from ADEC - worked fine.

Given the LJs were pretty old anyway I have ditched them and replaced them with new Crewsavers - this time with pro sensor activation.
