I have bought a 19 ft stuart stevens boat which needs fitting out. The boat is fitted with a hamilton 752 jet drive. I have bought a peugeot 1.9 turbo diesel engine to connect to the jet. To cool the engine after it has been marinised the jet seems to have two places where water can be brought into the boat. The first one is a 25mm dia. pipe which seems to come from a tube leading from the jet tunnel and the second one is a 10mm dia. short pipe coming from in front of the water intake screen. What is it for?

Has anyone any experience of this unit or any advice about it?

I used to have a 1970's Dowty Turbocraft, the jet drive was I think based on a Hamilton. I think you will find that the 25mm pipe is on the pressure side of the turbine and will supply water for engine cooling, and, the 10mm pipe near the strainer is actually on the suction side of the jet, and if I remember right could be fitted with a valve and used as an emergency bilge pump
