Does anyone know what happened to the HR "Freya" at Kip, other than the obvious - it's burnt to crisp. What a shame. I hope the boat was covered with good a insurance policy.

Blue chips?

Freya was a Malo 39, much loved and greatly missed.
Your joke (if that is what it is) is much too soon to be in anything other than poor taste.

Not at all, more of a warning for others.
In my insurance renewal this year was a note to the effect that they insurers advised not to leave demumidifiers running when the boat is unnatended as there have been fires. After receiving such a warning its unlikely they would pay a claim if that was proven to be the cause of a fire.

As I recall, the owner's son said that there was no electrical equipment, or even supply, aboard. So I am guessing either (a) thrown firework or (b) local lads using the cockpit under cover as a clubhouse for fly smokes.
