Perfect - thanks for information as I'm looking at fitting roller reefing to my Halcyon and have been offered one at 26 ft 6" so will have to look a bit more
Thanks Brian - could I ask which Plastimo one you bought. I've been looking (now) at the 608T and extra section. In addition did you fit it yourself with the forstay in place, and if so how easy was it ??
You can probably see this is my next project for my baby as with a dodgy knee and not the fittest (or most agile) person on the planet, hanked on sails and me don't mix.
Our first boat was a Halcyon 27 and definitely tender compared with the Conti 26 or Invicta. This was certainly improved by removing the foresail strop and tacking the the genoa down to the stem fitting (adding reinforced patches where the foot chafed on the rail).
Just a thought . . .
We have the 608, the local rigger replaced the fore and backstay, and fitted the Plastimo at the same time. Cost £50 for the extra section, liner, joint and screws, should have asked them for the off-cut, would have been enough to do yours.
I am interested in what people class as tender with Halcyon 27, as yet I have not been able to feel it.
