Gunfleet 58/02

I expect she'll be just as uneasy on the eye externally as Gunfleet 58/01.

Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder, and some new designs (thinking particularly of cars) take a while to get used to, and then look completely right. I can't imagine ever getting used to the Gunfleet's lines and thinking "great looking boat" though.

(Mind you, I love the way Ovnis look - it's all a matter of personal taste!)

+1

Whilst the 58 doesn't exactly make me go weak at the knees, it does look better than the 43 (which I thought to be one fugly boat - much too high for its length).

What is it with the current trend for designing yachts to look like wannabee-drug-dealers'-gin-palaces? Most of the big names are at it.

Had a close look at a Gunfleet 43 the other day, I think the looks would grow on you.
The interior was stunning, build quality appeared to be very good with all pipe work and cabling neatly laid out and labelled, all maintenance points easily accessible. Performance, sailing and power reported to be very good.

Clearly a lot of thought had gone into the boat.

Bit above my pay grade though.

I agree - the interior of the boat was stunning.
Some very clever ideas too - some of them made it to our boat.

As for exterior looks: I subscribe to the theory that if it looks good, it will sail good.
And IMHO, the Gunfleet 43 looks 'odd' (like I said in a previous post, too much freeboard for its length).
But then again, what do I know? :o
