Gullible Me

A final point, from me, on testing.

Management Consultants have built their careers on team building, encouraging, bonding. Management consultants use yachts to enhance their team building efforts. Here we have a disparate group of 'like minded' people who have some similar goals and a cross section of knowledge - some even have the background to design international test protocols.

But get them together to design a test on a critical item of kit

No chance.

In fact its embarrassing - constant back biting, constant criticism and in-fighting comes to mind.

Precisely why can the users not be more proactive? I know - no money in it.

What ever happened to altruism?

A piece of canvas on my boat was a bit grubby so I bought a highly recommended canvas cleaner (which turned out not to work)
Can anyone believe, with all the excitement and anticipation of a clean sail cover, I didn’t even think of taking it to a lab for chemical analysis first? Nor of harking back some 50 years to my school chemistry lessons.
I feel doubly stupid now. ?
BTW Syrup of fig is rhyming slang for wig. Hair-restorer? Geddit? ?

Do I have to remind you that foul language is banned here?

I could, but I don't care enough. What critical bit of kit needs testing? We know that all anchors work, as long as you choose the right size and manufacturers supply certificates for chain. The only thing I have every bought for my boat as a result of reading a review is my Victorinox Skipper's Knife, which won the Sailing Today multitool tests.

I was impressed with the Y10 cleaner I bought recently - got rid of the rust stains from the fishing boat that was using a grinder in the spring. Have to try it elsewhere now.
Be careful if you have been subjected to grinding particles because you will probably find that they have burnt their way into the gel coat and small rust streaks will continual to appear .
